There is a significant problem with the http://wiki.tldp.org/LdpWikiDefaultLicence and http://wiki.tldp.org/HOWTOTemplate pages: In asking new authors to append a copyright notice and GFDL v. 1.2 licence grant, they neglect to ask for a waiver of the obligation to include full licence text upon any redistribution or in any derivative work. Some would claim this isn't a problem, but GFDL is so huge that including it verbatim in modest documentation pieces is troublesome. It's the 21st Century: People who want the complete literal text of GFDL can use a Web browser and look it up.
This same problem exists with some other licences used for documentation, including GPL. I would urge inclusion of this waiver text in the suggested licensing text:
Copyright owner waives GNU Free Documentation License's obligation to include a copy of the licence text if redistributing the covered work or derivatives thereof.
Likewise for similar licences:
Copyright owner waives GPLv2's obligation to include a copy of the licence text if redistributing the covered work or derivatives thereof.
